I still have much to learn, I share from a place of humble expression, because I needed to know where I stand on this, because it deserves to be the next thing I say...I don't have all the answers, but I can make a dedicated effort to give some of my energy everyday to help heal this wound.
Part of healing ourselves and our world in a deep and lasting way involves investigating the subconscious biases that have us operating out of automatic fear and judgement. None of us has a rulebook for what to say or how to feel...but we have a choice of the intention we carry when we meet with others. #ICOMEINPEACE
We need to understand that while we can blame our upbringing, familial lines, or the media for some of our fearful ideas about life, we are still responsible for whether we choose to perpetuate those ideas, storylines, and manifestations.
The problem seems to be that we continue to engage with each other as if we are enemies rather than allies. Approaching the other with Judgement and Assumptions, forgetting to listen, forgetting to have compassion, and forgetting to call out the bullshit storyline we bring to the equation.
. . .
For nearly a month, I have been watching, listening, reflecting. Wading through the opinions, the anger, the separation and falling prey to the misrepresented black boxes on #blackouttuesday out of desperation to show support without pissing anyone off. Telling my ego to sit down, understanding that this is a time for me to feel the discomfort of being told my voice doesn't matter because of my skin color. To feel how strangling that is. Multiply that by 400 years and sink deep into the compassion of experiencing racism.
*APPROPRIATE ACTION
And most importantly I take action; sharing, supporting, and sustaining a daily ritual in honor of creating deep justice + harmony + equality among all peoples. I find something everyday to create a positive impact for this and other causes of human rights and harmony on Earth, even if that is as simple as a prayer, meditation, or visualization...because I believe thoughts become words, words become deeds, and our deeds make up the story we live out in this life. For BLM specific ideas Take Action Here.
We are all responsible for how we expect life to be, ...All of us. We must rewrite the narrative from all angles. We must envision a reality in which we have healed and made amends with the community members being oppressed or marginalized. We must envision and then participate in this reality of human equality and harmony.
This may seem like a distant ideal when in reality there is a lot to be done, and a lot of minds to change. If we each start with our own, we will better light the way for others.

I am truly Grateful to the #PEACEFULPROTEST and the social media awareness in support of #JUSTICEFORGEORGEFLOYD. It is fucking beautiful to see so many people standing together and it has raised my awareness so much to the experience of the black community as their voices are being amplified by so many. I understand the necessity of protest to incite global awareness, as it communicates the intensity and volume to which this community is suffering and fed-up. Violence towards local business dilutes the message...but we must understand that even the truth about that dynamic is trying to be hidden behind pallets of bricks. But we are in a phase of massive transparency as we see the repeated violence of the appointed offenders as they are on full display toward the peaceful protestors. It is time to call them all out, take the power away from the ones who abuse it. The conversation of police reform is highly nuanced especially in a country where state + city police power mirrors the country's military power and the prioritization of funding for force. This issue starts at our nation's foundational division. It is in the red + blue my friends. It is in the arbitrary borders and cultural wars that litter our globe. To many this all feels hopeless, but these are powerful moments for change.
I believe there is a very cosmo-logical reason this is all happening right now. The presidency. The pandemic. The protests. The police transparency.
The Collective Conscious Agrees....
This is our WAKE UP! We cannot continue the regularly scheduled programs. These programs are full of fear, discord, and division. These programs are lying to us about what will make us happy and fulfilled. They are lying to us about who/what is the enemy. These programs aim to divide us from each other so that we are more easily controlled. We must stay vigilant, understanding that we will learn much more from our neighbors when we turn off the "news" and walk outside to stand together, to rise up together.

Expanding Perspectives...
And just when I think I have gained some insight, I consider my partner's perspective. An Iraqi born man who felt the need to change his name for fear of racial/cultural bias in this country. A man who feels alienated by a movement that seems to tell him his life doesn't matter. That his experiences with racial + cultural biases aren't just as painful and deep. This is complex. This requires compassion for all. This is an opportunity for something bigger.
I hear you. I empathize. I am aware. I am committed to taking the actions in alignment with this alliance of peace. To share from my unique light for betterment of the world is my promise of action. A Daily Practice to my own learning + unlearning to contribute quality content to the collective conscious.

With this Intention I Create a Daily Practice of Protest within my Mind!
This practice is a daily invitation to participate in a better world. The BLM movement is deeply powerful for itself, but it also has the power to open the doors of our minds to expand this to a universal + unconditional respect + acceptance for all beings of life. This is no way takes away from their moment, because this could not be done without them. This powerful force is for ultimate good.
*ALLY AWARENESS
My individual responsibility is to first recognize the harsh reality for our black community in the US, then understand black racism extends to many other parts of the world, in fact many types of racial, cultural, religious, gender, sexual, class, and political biases exist almost everywhere. I must discover the passive role I play in these programs of hate and fear. This wound is deep and very real for many. It is not enough to think I am not racist, I have to be anti-racist, and learn how to be an ally. Dear White People: Being an Ally Isn't Always What You Think
*ACTIVE LISTENING
I must listen to the stories, the voices, and the action items requested of me. The first step of active listening is having your ego sit down. If you stop making the conversation about you, then the other person has the opportunity to be heard. This is truly healing in itself, to be heard and seen. Part of active listening is letting the other party know you hear them. Reflect their truth back to them.
Supportiv.com dives deep on BLM perspectives. Listening to BLM stories/experiences helps me to understand, in a deep way, the roots of this system of oppression. Both the subtle and gross offenses. I develop a deep compassion and shared outrage for the things we have allowed to happen towards our fellow humans. This is a practice for all human communication + interaction.
*AMEND THE MIND
Uncomfortably I sit with knowledge of my responsibility for perpetuation of any personal or familial subconscious racial/cultural bias. As with any other bad habit of the mind, we must exercise the practice of reforming thoughts. We can begin by noticing any human biases that come into our minds, mentally call yourself out, and exchange the idea with a positive affirmation about that human instead. There are a lot of ideas about this, just google "Rewiring Racial Bias" and take your pick at the research. In a general sense, this is something we can do for any harmful thought we are in the habit of thinking. For deep self-care rituals that drive a daily habit for personal and community transformation stay tuned for future posts. While you wait, go back and make sure you got yourself covered with basic daily self-care rituals. We cannot truly hold love and compassion for another unless we have given it to ourselves.
