Intentional Body Care

There are so many ways to care for our bodies from the inside-out. This includes our energetic body and our Mother Earth. I have found over the years that the most simple and natural products leave my body feeling and looking the healthiest. Having a conscious body routine that is free from harsh chemicals aka xenoestrogen can make a huge difference in how we feel and how we impact our environment.  Adding positive intention to these seemingly ordinary tasks can raise the vibration of your self-care and in-turn your day.

In Ayurveda you will find a handful of simple yet powerful rituals to care for your body with deep intention, using constitution/Dosha specific oils and herbs and a few simple tools. I have slowly worked up to incorporating most of these routines into my daily & weekly rituals. I will be honest, I am not going to neti pot, it’s just not my jam to put water up my nose. Some people love it and really need it, my nasal passages generally flush right out when I am brushing my teeth and washing my face. I’m the one making all the gagging and nasal clearing noises in the morning 🤣

Ritual Remedy

At a minimum it’s important to consider adding to your daily routine something that moves your lymph fluid. The lymphatic system does not have a pump like your heart, so it needs help to flush and circulate the fluids to remove toxins from the body. Dry brushing, full body self massage, vibration or jumping are simple ways to circulate your lymph. Here is the full list of Ayurveda recommended daily body care linked to in depth articles with deeper explanation:

If this feels overwhelming, just start simple with a few things you do everyday, adding in new things gradually; Brush your teeth, Scrape your tongue, and maybe add an oil massage for your body a couple times a week before you shower. Or do them all and more! You do you! I have shortened versions for days when I don’t want to take as much time and then at least once a week I will do a long luxurious body care ritual.

Invite Intention

Whatever you do for yourself, change your mentality about it...maybe you’re like "ugh I really need to shower, I stink" try changing that thought to something like "I deserve to feel clean and refreshed" The vibration of that thought is very different, and since thoughts become things, the power starts right there. I came across this idea a few weeks ago from Briana Borten of Dragontree and started immediately incorporating these new thoughts/intentions. This has made a huge difference for my body image in general as well as adding another opportunity to practice positive mental patterns.

Try completing these body care rituals with affirming thoughts "I am caring for my body and washing away any stagnant energy " "I appreciate my clean body" Reframing these little things that sometimes feel like chores into a Self-Care Ritual can really turn your mood and your energy. Did you know that a shower can act as a way to cleanse your aura/energy body? In Reiki it's one of the recommended ways to wash away negative or old energy from your body. Imagine the water rinsing over your body and taking any tension or negativity down the drain with it.

It is life-changing to invite intention into the simplest parts of your life, elevating the energy you attract. These are small things that start to add up over time. My Ayurveda teacher, Jai Dev Singh, says, “CONSISTENCY CREATES MAGNETISM!”

Aristotle says, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

May your habits be intentional and you life become radiant!

Love & Light
